Guided Elk Hunting in Nevada and California
We have over 20 years’ experience guiding elk hunters in California and Nevada. Our clients have taken all 3 species of elk that will qualify for the Boone and Crockett record book and we may be the only outfitter that has ever done that. Whether it's calling bulls in the rut with archery gear or hunting elk in the late season with rifles, our guides have the experience to make your hunt a success. In California we hunt Roosevelt, Tule, and Rocky Mountain elk but we specialize in Roosevelt elk. Our success rate has been over 90% in California. Since 1999, our clients have taken 25 bulls that will qualify for the Boone and Crockett record book. Take a look at our photo gallery to see photos of the bulls our clients have taken.
In California we guide the Northwestern hunt for Roosevelt elk and we have landowner tags each year that you can purchase. Our guided Tule elk hunts take place on Cache Creek, East Park Reservoir, Owens Valley and Grizzly Island. These hunts offer an excellent opportunity to harvest a trophy bull. These hunts are draw hunts or they can be purchased through auction or as landowner tags.
We have landowner tags for Roosevelt elk on two different ranches. These hunts used to be public draw hunts and we now have exclusive access to these areas and tags. One ranch is 32,635 acres and the other is 109,367 acres. Our clients have taken several Boone and Crockett Roosevelt elk off these hunts and they are very limited. These hunts are not cheap, but should allow our clients a great opportunity to hunt Roosevelt elk during the rut with a very good chance at taking a record book bull. Both of these hunts have had Roosevelt elk in the mid to high 360s taken off them in the past. The season is the month of September during the rut and you can hunt with any weapon.
The application deadline for California is the end of May. The rates quoted below for your 6 day California hunt include meals and lodging. Season dates are August through October.
Roosevelt Elk Hunts
Our Roosevelt elk hunts are what we are known for. Nobody has taken more record book bulls for their clients in California than we have. We have had four clients take bulls that would qualify for the top 100 all time in the Boone and Crockett record book. These hunts take place in the northwestern corner of California and are during the rut. Hunts typically run 5 to 7 days and the country is very brushy and as such our clients get a lot of shots under 50 yards. Walking and calling is the preferred method here but sometimes we can glass one up and stalk him. If you are looking for a world class Roosevelt elk hunt, you have come to the right place.
Tule Elk Hunts
For Tule elk we hunt the Cache Creek, East Park Reservoir, Owens Valley and Grizzly Island hunts. You can draw these tags if you are lucky or you can buy a landowner tag or bid on an auction tag. In 2010 one of our clients missed the archery world record by a half inch and in 2012 another client took the number two SCI Tule elk with a gun at 363 inches. Most of our Tule elk clients have taken Boone and Crockett bulls and three of them have officially net scored over 310 inches.
Rocky Mountain Elk Hunts
In Nevada we offer guided Rocky Mountain elk hunts in most units in the state and if we don't guide there we can recommend a good outfitter. These hunts are in prime elk territory with an excellent chance of harvesting a bull of a lifetime. We will thoroughly scout for your hunt prior to your arrival and will do everything in our power to make this the hunt of a lifetime that it should be. These tags are very hard to come by so we recommend going with two guides but we will customize the hunt to meet your needs and goals. Depending on the hunt you draw these can be spot and stalk hunts or you can call the bulls. We have only ever had one unsuccessful elk hunter in Nevada and that was an archery hunter that shot at two bulls in four days. This is a limited draw hunt with the application deadline being in mid-April. Nevada landowner tags are also available. The rates quoted below for your 6 day guided Nevada elk hunt include meals and lodging.
